How To Write Out Your Goals Part II.

liveIn my previous post I explained what steps to take in writing out your goals. In this post I am going to elaborate on the subject a little more.

As I explained before you need to write your goals in the present tense, avoid any negative words like “No”, use “I am” as much as possible and use descriptive and emotional words. In this I am going to use two examples to elaborate further.

Lets say you want to loose weight or (like 99% of the people in the world) earn lots of mooney, hell who doesn’t … right? So you would like to loose weight or earn extra cash, well you can’t just write down “I want to loose weight” or “I want to earn more money”, it will never work. You need to be specific, you need to say EXACTLY what you want.

You need to say something in the line of;

“I want to loose 40Kg by the end of December of the next year” or “I want to earn R50 000 a month”. You need to be SPECIFIC about your goals.

Then you need to imagine what life would be like when you have achieved these goals. Something like;

“I will feel great and full of energy” or “I am more confident with myself” or “I will go on vacation where ever I want” or “I will go out more”.

Next you need to decide what action you are going to take to achieve these goals. You might say;

“I will do 20 push ups every day” or “I will make 20 extra sales calls a day” or “I will exercise every morning” or “I will study for my degree”.

Lastly you need to remember that how you achieve your goals is not necessarily the way YOU think YOU will, and actually most times it never turns out to be the way that YOU think it will be.

So keep flexible with your action plans.

To your success.
